FAQ's from Whitewaters

Is the pool itself built on site or pre-fabricated?

We deliver the pool shell in one piece. This means that installation of the shell needs to take place early in the build schedule if the Swimspa is part of a new build. If the Swimspa is to be installed in an existing building, then it is important to ensure that there is an opening large enough to accommodate the shell.

How is the Swimspa delivered to site?

Depending on the model, your Swimspa will arrive on the back of a flat bed lorry. The method of manouvering the shell into it's final position is different for every site, but we would normally use a mobile crane.

Can we install the Swimspa above ground?

Yes, the W1 Swimspa is built with a steel frame, meaning that installation is possible in-ground, above ground or partially buried.

Can we install the Swimspa outside?

Yes, the W1 Swimspa is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Outdoor pools do require more maintenance and running costs will be higher, but nothing beats the great outdoors.

What kind of foundation is required

We recommend that the Swimspa stands on a 150mm re-enforced concrete slab. This detail should be confirmed with your architect or structural engineer. Contact us for further advice.

What sizes are available?

The standard W1 Swimspa is 2.4m x 6m. It is possible to increase the width to 3mtr, and the length may be anything from 4.2m upwards.

What colours are available?

As the W1 Swimspa is tiled to your specification, you can choose your colour scheme to include almost any colour. Blues and greens are the most popular colour choices, and we can also offer stone or river pebble finishes.

Where are the pumps and filter located?

The water handling plant is engineered on site, which allows you to choose where to locate the equipment. Most commonly, a separate plant room is used to house the equipment, with pipes carrying water to and from the W1 Swimspa. Alternatively, the equipment may be mounted under the seating area of the W1 Swimspa, if access to this area is possible for maintenance. Our engineer will assess your options as part of the site survey.

How much room is required for the plant?

The plant for a standard W1 will take up 2 metres x 1 metre of floorspace, with further equipment to be wall mounted. It is possible to reduce this footprint by using "racks" if necessary. Contact us for further information.

What electricity supply is required?

The W1 Swimspa works from a standard domestic electric supply and requires a 50amp supply if using electric heating. If using an alternative heat source, 32amp is sufficient.

How is the water heated?

The W1 Swimspa is supplied with an electric heater as standard. If you wish to use an alternative heat source, we can fit a heat exchanger as a no-cost option. Using this method allows the pool to be heated by a gas or oil boiler, or even using geo-thermal or solar energy. Our engineer will explain the requirements as part of your site survey.

What temperature is the water?

This is largely a matter of personal preference, but as a rule, most people prefer to set the temperature between 30°C and 35°C. Those using the pool for vigorous and prolonged exercise may wish to have the water cooler, whereas those using the pool for relaxation will be likely to prefer warmer water. The maximum temperature is 40°C.

Do we need to treat the water with chemicals?

Yes, all pool and spa water needs to be treated. However, as the W1 Swimspa water treatment plant is engineered on site, we are able to offer a wide range of optional extras such as automatic pH control. If you like, the water treatment system can be fully automated.
